Abstract
-
The present dissertation will explain how and why the director of the Encyclopedie managed to be the author of the articles dealing with the history of philosophy.;Although Diderot misunderstood most of them and one may clearly consider the presentation of the different systems of philosophy as a complete failure, he purposely did so. His goal was not to teach a series of abstractions to his reader but to enable him (the reader) to become acquainted with the thought of the "philosophes", which actually was the philosophy of a social class: the "bourgeoisie".
