Abstract
The study investigated the moderator effect of locus of control on some expected outcomes of Management By Objectives. The dependent variables investigated were performance, job satisfaction, motivation and alienation.;In a quasi-experimental field study, a control group was compared to an experimental group which received an MBO intervention.;Two sets of hypotheses were tested. One set tested for increases in performance, job satisfaction and motivation and the decrease in alienation in the experimental group and not in the control group. The other set of hypotheses tested the moderating effect of locus of control between the independent and the dependent variables. Each hypothesis was tested by means of t-tests.;The data showed a significant increase in performance in the experimental group as compared to the control group. The data showed that internality moderated the effect of MBO on performance in the experimental group but the same effect was also observed in the control group.;The data showed significant differences in job satisfaction between the MBO group and the control group. The data showed that internality did significantly affect job satisfaction in the experimental group but the same effect was also observed in the control group.
