Abstract
-
My work involves interrupted time series analysis. I estimate the monthly consumption per capita of beer, wine and distilled spirits for the period: January 1970-December 1988. After stationarizing I estimate multiplicative Box Jenkins ARIMA models. Later on I include an intervention component in order to fully analyze the effects of the federal tax intervention in distilled spirits on the consumption of beer, wine and distilled spirits. I also compare the results of the ARIMA models to those obtained with conventional demand function specifications.
