Abstract: A revision of the moss genus Erythrodontium recognizes eight species from the previously accepted 15 species. Erythrodontium is a mostly epiphytic genus in the family Entodontaceae. Members of the genus generally occur in somewhat mountainous regions throughout the tropics in both the Western and Eastern hemispheres. Taxonomic treatments, distribution maps and illustrations are given for each recognized species. Molecular and morphological data were analyzed in an attempt to better understand the phylogenetic relationships within the genus and family. Dubious, invalid and excluded names associated with the genus are discussed.
