Abstract: This composition for mixed chorus, soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, and bass soloists and orchestra is a setting of Psalms 130 and 139. With a duration of approximately seventeen minutes, the piece dramatically progresses from darkness and despair in the first Psalm, "Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord," to hope and joy in the second, "O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me.".
