Abstract
-
Knowledge of job requirements, familiarity with job performance, and rating environment complexity were examined with regard to their impact upon a cognitive economy strategy purported to be a source of illusory halo. The interaction of job knowledge and ratee familiarity was found to be a significant factor. An inquiry into the reliability of a measure of raters' implicit covariance beliefs was performed.
