Abstract
-
A global network-based information model called Distributed Intelligent Information Network (DIIN) has been designed for online information retrieval using existing education databases over the public and intelligent network. Such a globally networked application system can be used by researchers in university campuses from all over the world and will include considerable number of new features. This model is based upon object-oriented paradigm using object-oriented model and a negotiating protocol of distributed Artificial Intelligence. This model has been described and analyzed in great details.;On the way of presenting this, Chapter 1 provides an introduction to Information Retrieval (IR), Chapter 2 provides a thorough accounting of different topics of IR, Chapter 3 presents a detailed account of high-speed networks and cellular networks. Chapter 4 describes Intelligent networks, knowledge representations and Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI). It also discusses the architecture of a conceptual network (called NBIS) for information retrieval. Chapter 5 describes the proposed network architecture (DIIN-IR), its software components, message protocols etc. in full details. Chapter 6 contains an appendix.
