Abstract: In this paper we present numerical solutions to the Korteweg-DeVries equation using a technique employing linear programming. This method is shown to possess advantages over such standard techniques as finite differences and the Fast Fourier Transform. Numerical solutions are given to problems with non-periodic as well as periodic initial condition. Finally, suggestions for new approaches to numerically solving the Korteweg-DeVries equation are presented.
