Abstract
A large number of data sets on meson-meson system became available including those from a high statistics experiment of {dollar}\pi{dollar} exchange production of the {dollar}K\sbsp{lcub}S{rcub}{lcub}0{rcub}K\sbsp{lcub}S{rcub}{lcub}0{rcub}{dollar} system in which the author participated. These data on the {dollar}\pi\pi{dollar}, {dollar}K\bar K{dollar}, {dollar}\eta\eta{dollar}, and {dollar}\eta\eta\sp\prime{dollar} systems come from fixed-target(hadronic) experiments. These data which have been obtained using the OPE hypothesis, along with other data for {dollar}J/\psi\to MM\gamma{dollar} and {dollar}pp\to pp\pi\sp+\pi\sp-{dollar}, are studied in detail. A re-analysis of the {dollar}\pi\pi{dollar} data of the type B-solution which is the only consistent solution relating the {dollar}\pi\sp+\pi\sp-{dollar} and {dollar}\pi\sp0\pi\sp0{dollar} data sets shows outstanding inconsistencies among the S-wave amplitudes. The average of the {dollar}\pi\pi{dollar} data was derived using the adiabatic averaging method. The data on the {dollar}K\bar K{dollar} from the hadronic production experiments(with {dollar}\pi{dollar} beam) are consistent.;We then perform a coupled-channel analysis based upon the K-matrix formulation of the S matrix to study processes {dollar}\pi\pi\to MM{dollar}. The results indicate that a unitary description of the 2{dollar}\sp{lcub}++{rcub}{dollar} mesons is achieved. In particular the {dollar}f\sb2{dollar}(1720) is not seen in the hadronic channels. The {dollar}f\sb2{dollar}(1810) is established in the hadronic channels. Only preliminary work on the unitary description of the 0{dollar}\sp{lcub}++{rcub}{dollar} mesons has been done. We require at least seven resonances to roughly understand the scalar meson spectra.
