Abstract
This dissertation is about the six novels of Angelina Muniz. The first chapter "Angelina Muniz, escritora hispanomexicana" explores her identity as a member of the Hispanomexican generation.;The second chapter "Morada interior y la paradoja del exilio" is a study of her first novel. Here the life and writings of Santa Teresa play an important role. This novel is a peculiar way of seeing The Republican exile of 1936 with the religious converted life of the Spanish Renascence.;The third chapter "Tierra Adentro, periplo a tierras de Safed", a picaresque novel, is a study of how Angelina Muniz approaches and innovates this genre. Instead of conspiring against her characters, she works with them until they arrive safely to Safed's land.;Chapter four "La guerra, simbolo del destierro, en La guerra del Unicornio" is a study of how she connects the Spanish Civil War with the epic genre and with the Spanish Middle Ages. She also uses the ambivalent symbol of the unicorn to approach the theme of war.;Chapter five "Dulcinea encantada, obra de un exilio heredado", is a study of the main character Dulcinea, an exile in Mexico and her polyphonic mind. She is also the lover of Amadis the Gaula, a character of the Middle Ages Spanish literature and the lady companion of the marchioness Calderon de la Barca in nineteenth century Mexico. It is a study of how madness and the apocalypse are symbols of the exile.;Chapter six "Marginalidad y memoria en Las confidentes" analyzes the stories that two friends are telling to each other. They are a reflection of the lives of many people on Mexico exile.;Chapter VII "El peregrinaje como alegoria de la diaspora en El mercader de Tudela" is a study of the Spanish medieval rabbi Benjamin bar Yona and his trip to Asia, while visiting all the Jewish Communities. His pilgrimage is an allegory for the Spanish diaspora.;As a conclusion I explore her innovative and personal approach to the literature of Republican exile.
