Abstract: This composition for orchestra explores the developmental possibilities of its two contrasting themes. The first theme is treated to such devices as melodic variation, changes of tempo, modulations and fragmentation. The second theme is less varied than the first, although it is subjected to some textural changes and modulations.;Other elements in this work include sudden changes of textures--movement from loud tutti sections to immediate chamber-like textures. ftn*Author wrote two papers for this Ph.D. degree.
