Abstract
-
This catalog lists the three hundred and forty-nine works of the Viennese violinist and composer Fritz Kreisler. The catalog is divided into two sections: Part I catalogs Kreisler's original compositions, Part II his arrangements of works by other composers. All works are cataloged in chronological order of composition with the exception of Kreisler's first four publications dated 1905, 1910-11, 1913, and 1914, which are cataloged by date of publication.;Part I is a thematic catalog of Kreisler's original compositions in probable chronological order. Twelve categories of information are provided for each instrumental composition: thematic incipit, catalog number, title, date of composition, instrumentation, description of tempo(s) of movements, dedication, publication and a brief physical description of the printed score, holograph with the brand name and the type of paper used for composition, holograph location, supplemental notes, and multiple arrangements/versions (listed with a letter: e.g., 2a, 2b, etc.). Three additional categories are added for vocal compositions; key, author of libretto or text, and text incipit (first line of the libretto or text).;Part II is a catalog of Kreisler's "arrangements" of works by other composers. It follows the same format as section I but without the thematic incipit.
