Abstract: Scored for the traditional instrumentation of flute, oboe, clarinet, french horn and bassoon, this quintet develops a theme through a series of thirteen variations, the last of which expands into an extended coda. While the rhythms and counterpoint at times draw upon jazz styles, the harmony does not.
